  • by

The Epee Committee of the Hungarian Fencing Federation had a meeting on 16th of Sept, 2015, and discussed about new notions of Olimpici Grand Prix aftergrowth tournament as the main subject in its agenda. The members of the Committee agreed that the competition system/formula of epée aftergrowth age groups has to be optimized – based on its almost one dacede experiences and mostly based on the recent and growing numbers of entrants.

– The main goal is to endorse the regulations of the newly accepted rules in formulas and other organising facts related to competitions – by the Hungarian Fencing Federation –, and optimize the formula to the growing numbers of entrants.

Thus taking the competition season of 2015/2016 as a new era and milestone, the Committee has discussed and accepted the next changes in the formula of Olimpici GP’s events:

Formula of competitions

Mini competitions
Two rounds with no elimination and no tableau – rounds with 5–6 fencers (4 hits, 2 mins fencing time).
The first round determines ranking for the second round
where the first eight fence for the 1st place,
meanwhile others fence for placements in poules with 5–6 fencers.

Reminder of the formula so far:
Three rounds, no tableau, no elimination! The first two rounds determine ranking for the third where the first eight fence for the 1st place in the final round. Others fence for placements. All rounds run with more pools with less (four or five) fencers in, if possible. The bouts run for FOUR HITS with TWO MINUTES fencing time.

Kid competitions
One round with no elimination. This determines ranking list
which from the first 32 fencers go onto tableau 32
(ten hits, 2×3 mins).
From place 33 competitors fence for placements in poules again
(five hits, 1×3 mins) in the second round.

– Henceforth the nations of entrants from outside of Hungary must send referees as following:

This is not calculated along by clubs, but along by nations, all together. If a nation is unable or wont ensure referees, they must to pay 50 EUR penalty to the host club of the competition. If the foreign nations deny paying the penalty, it will result in exclusion of all entrants from that nation.

– Deadline of sending final documentation of competition results is until monday 10.00 after the weekend of competition. Foreign fencers are also receiving points according of their placement, which is booked and noted in a dedicated ranking list with all of the entrants of Olimpici GPs. This is uploaded only to the website of Olimpici – after couple of days of the weekend of Olimpici GP.
